Raw Elimination Chamber Match 19/02/2012
WWE Champion CM Punk won the Raw Elimination Chamber Match

MILWAUKEE – Chris Jericho didn't even have a chance to open his mouth this time. He was totally out cold.

On Sunday night, the very Superstar who Jericho ripped as a "wannabe," the man who he disrespected at every opportunity, was the only one who could lay claim to being the "Best in the World": WWE Champion CM Punk.

The Straight Edge Superstar knocked Jericho unconscious with a kick to the back of the head, and stood tall above four other fearsome contenders, to retain his title in the grueling Raw Elimination Chamber Match.

CM Punk taunts Chris Jericho from the other side of the pod glass: It was one of Punk's most physically taxing battles to overcome in his WWE career, not only because of the exhausting nature of the Elimination Chamber Match, but the emotional vendetta that he had to withstand in order to keep the championship around his waist.

For those unaware of the rules, the Elimination Chamber Match begins with two participants in a ring enclosed by the Chamber structure, while the remaining four are held within pods in each corner of the Chamber. The other four Superstars are randomly released from their pods into the contest at five-minute intervals. The objective is simple, but exceptionally tough: eliminate opponents via pinfall or submission, forcing each to leave the Chamber. The last man standing is the winner.

Jericho certainly had experience packed into his pod. Heading into this crucial duel, The Mental Mastermind participated in six Elimination Chamber Matches. Punk was no rookie himself, having entered the Chamber on three separate occasions.

Punk started off the match first against Kofi Kingston. Despite a couple of crafty acrobatic moves by Kingston, The Straight Edge Superstar dished out some punishing blows, sending Kingston into one of the pods headfirst and suplexing him on the hard steel floor of the Chamber.

Dolph Ziggler was the third to join the fray, and immediately went after the WWE Champion, striking him repeatedly and, of course, showing off by using the Chamber's chains to do pull-ups. The injection of Ziggler into the match added a new element of danger, as Punk and Kingston suffered a very painful mid-air collision while gunning for The Show-Off.Chris Jericho hits Dolph Ziggler with the Codebreaker

R-Truth, as reckless as ever, stormed out fourth and wasted no time with a flurry of wild punches and high-risk maneuvers. Truth didn't last long, though, being quickly eliminated by Punk after a top-rope elbow drop.

Stepping into the chaos fifth, The Miz went to work on Kingston and Ziggler, driving them both onto the steel floor of the Chamber. Then, right as Punk seemed to have The Miz ready to tap in the Anaconda Vise, Jericho's pod opened up and he tried to target Punk with two of his most devastating maneuvers: the Walls of Jericho and the Lionsault.

Jericho later proved why he is WWE's leader in Chamber eliminations when he landed a Codebreaker on Ziggler and ousted The Show-Off – his ninth all-time elimination. Shortly thereafter, he returned his fury to Punk by repeatedly slamming one of the pod doors on The Straight Edge Superstar. He then made Kingston submit with the Walls of Jericho and refused to let go of the hold, seemingly out to prove a point by inflicting more punishment.

Taking his eyes off Punk was a big mistake, however. Jericho was rendered unconscious by a vicious kick to the head from the WWE Champion and landed outside of the Chamber, physically unable to continue. As concerned officials attended to Jericho on the outside, Punk was left alone with The Miz on the inside as the final two competitors.

CM Punk celebrates after winning the Raw Elimination Chamber: After Miz relentlessly taunted the champ, and then the Milwaukee crowd, Punk seized his moment to catch The Awesome One by surprise with a Go To Sleep and pinned The Miz, defying the odds and escaping the 30-plus minute war as the reigning WWE Champion.

It remains to be seen who will next challenge Punk in six weeks at WrestleMania XXVIII, but you can be sure Jericho will be out for his revenge. Once he comes to his senses, that is.

John Cena vs. Kane (Ambulance Match) 19/02/2012

MILWAUKEE – Kane walked into Milwaukee's Bradley Center under his own power, but he left in an ambulance. After spending months rejecting The Big Red Monster’s campaign of hate – an ominous overture that ensnared John Cena allies Zack Ryder and Eve – the leader of the Cenation tapped into his dark side and brutalized The Devil’s Favorite Demon, besting him in a barbaric Ambulance Match Main Event.

Chairs, ring steps, a table and a wheelchair were all weaponized during the wild fray, which traversed through the arena. In the end, it was a devastating Attitude Adjustment off the top of the ambulance onto a platform many feet below that immobilized Kane long enough for Cena to capture the victory.

Pinfalls and submissions, as well as count-outs and disqualifications, were all out the window Sunday night – the first time in nearly a decade that the WWE Universe bore witness to an Ambulance Match. According to the hellacious affair’s stipulations, the only way to attain victory is by incapacitating the opponent long enough to throw him into the back of an awaiting ambulance and shut the door.

Despite Cena’s vows to “rise above,” Kane’s quest to get Cena to embrace the hate proved effective – albeit to The Big Red Monster’s misfortune – as the Cenation leader unleashed a rarely seen mean streak in defeating the hatemonger.

The bout began at a furious pace, with the two heavyweights immediately taking to the floor and slamming one another into ring barriers. After using his gloved hand to smother Cena, Kane retrieved a wheelchair from beneath the ring and tried to bring Cena’s limp body back to the ambulance. However, the Cenation leader regained his senses midway down the aisle and mustered a comeback.

The two Superstars fought their way through the WWE Universe before returning to ringside, where Cena appeared to find delight in punishing Kane with the steel ring steps. As he attempted to give Kane an Attitude Adjustment off the ring steps through the announce table, The Big Red Monster countered, and thunderously chokeslammed Cena through the table instead.

With Cena seemingly down for the count, Kane placed the righteous Cenation leader onto a gurney and loaded him into the ambulance. Before Kane could shut the door, though, Cena courageously fought his way out of the ambulance and took the fight to the top of the vehicle, where he finally finished off The Big Red Monster with the biggest Attitude Adjustment of all time.

The victory caps off an emotional week for the Cenation leader. After saving Eve from Kane on the Feb. 13, edition of Raw SuperShow, Cena locked lips with Eve, breaking the heart of the wheelchair-bound Ryder and prompting outrage from much of the WWE Universe.  With Kane seemingly behind him, Cena now sets his sights on The Rock, his WrestleMania XXVIII opponent.

With the Cenation leader having finally made good on his promise to overcome Kane, what’s next for The Big Red Monster? After a lengthy disappearance from WWE last year, Kane “resurrected” in December to unearth his campaign of hate. Each time he’s been dealt a significant setback in his WWE career, Kane has managed to re-emerge stronger than before. Is it possible that Cena’s victory will only serve to further enrage the prophet of hate, and if so, what does that mean for other WWE Superstars in the coming months?

SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match 19/02/2012
World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan won the SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match

World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan once again overcame steep odds, outlasting The Great Khali, Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett, Big Show and Santino Marella in the SmackDown Elimination Chamber Match. With his numbers-defying victory at Elimination Chamber, Bryan retained his title and assured his place in the main event at WrestleMania XXVIII.

Because of its hellish construction and the six-to-one probability of a competitor emerging from the structure victorious, the Elimination Chamber is a career-altering match for everyone involved, and especially dangerous for the entering champion.

According to the rules of the match, each participating Superstar draws a number from one to six, signifying order of entry. The competitors who pick one and two will start, while the other combatants remain locked in individual pods, waiting to enter the melee at five-minute intervals. Superstars can be eliminated by pinfall or submission and are trapped inside the structure for the duration of the bout. While the rules of the Elimination Chamber may be daunting, the prize that awaits its winner is crystal clear.

In a match where the odds are inherently stacked against the entering champion, it’s fitting that Bryan would walk out with the title intact. Despite the fact that he’d never before experienced the unique torture that is the Chamber, the World Heavyweight Champion’s recent track record has certainly proven him as an odds-beater.

Daniel Bryan scales the Elimination Chamber, reminding everyonce once again that he is the World Heavyweight Champion.

Throughout the course of his title reign, the submission specialist has overcome everything thrown his way, including a Triple Threat Steel Cage Match against Big Show and Mark Henry. But Sunday night’s Chamber Match would present unique challenges — and a bevy of formidable challengers — to the champion.

Barrett focused on the leg of The World's Largest Athlete, slowing down Big Show in the early goings of the match.

Wade Barrett, for example, entered with high hopes, big talk and the toughness necessary to back it up. The ideal combination of ruthless nature, English tenacity and unbridled ambition, the Barrett Barrage was seemingly tailor-made for this type of showdown.

There was also Cody Rhodes, who stood to gain enormously from a Chamber Match victory. Even though his Intercontinental Championship wasn’t on the line, Rhodes came into the Chamber with eyes on simultaneously holding the World Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships, a feat that would have elevated him to legendary status.

Added to the mix were two giants, Big Show and The Great Khali, each man possessing the ability to knock out an opponent with one blow.

And then there was the dark horse. After shocking the WWE Universe by winning an impromptu Elimination Chamber Wild Card Battle Royal, sentimental favorite Santino Marella replaced an injured Randy Orton, looking to capitalize on the biggest opportunity of his career.

The first two men in the ring, Barrett battled Big Show one-on-one as the other four Superstars looked on from their pods. Next out of the gate was Cody Rhodes, who, working in tandem with Barrett for much of the battle, attempted to chop the giant down to size.

Marella was the fourth man to enter, and he immediately came face to face with Big Show, who was wholly apathetic toward the Italian Superstar. Next came Khali, but as quickly as The Punjabi Giant entered, he exited, losing a battle of giant against giant to Big Show.

The last man in his pod was the World Heavyweight Champion, and, not willing to wait for the clock to run its course, Big Show took matters into his mighty hands, decimating the chains on top of the pod and kicking through them with his giant boots. He then proceeded to lay waste to the champion inside the tight confines of the pod.

But Barrett may have saved the titleholder, delivering a boot to Big Show and then, working with Rhodes, the two men finally eliminated The World’s Largest Athlete. In Rhodes’ celebration, however, Marella snuck in and rolled up the Intercontinental Champion, sending him packing. Then the bare-knuckle brawler quickly tied Marella up in the steel chains and then turned his attention to Bryan, powerbombing the champion into the steel chains and slamming his head in the pod door.

Big Show rams into The Great Khali with a thunderous spear, and pins the Punjabi Playboy to eliminate him from the Chamber.

Marella re-emerged, however, commanding Barrett’s attention and leading to a Bryan headbutt off the top ropes. Marella pinned Barrett, leaving the dark horse in the ring with the World Heavyweight Champion. But the Italian Superstar would not pull off consecutive miracles, and Bryan — who was the last man in the ring — was the last man left standing in the end.

Big Show displays incredible strength and agilty by climbing to the top of Bryan's pod, and tears through the chains to reach the World Heavyweight Champion.

Despite the odds stacked squarely against him, Bryan became just the fifth man ever to retain his title in the Chamber Match. But the champion couldn’t celebrate for long. To the surprise of the WWE Universe, Royal Rumble Match winner Sheamus arrived in Milwaukee, intent on delivering an emphatic message to the champion. With a monstrous slam, Sheamus ended all speculation as to what title he has in his sights come WrestleMania.

Former champions return to support John Laurinaitis 19/02/2012

MILWAUKEE – The “HUGE announcement” teased on twitter by John Laurinaitis on Saturday afternoon became abundantly clear on Sunday night at the Elimination Chamber event.  Three former world champions representing both Raw and SmackDown – Alberto Del Rio, Mark Henry and Christian – made shocking appearances to voice their support for the beleaguered Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Interim General Manager of Monday Night Raw.

Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Interim General Manager of Raw John Laurinaitis makes his way to the ring with legal counsel David Otunga.
Otunga sips from his travel coffee mug as Laurinaitis suggests that SmackDown General Manager Teddy Long should be under the same scrutiny he is.
Laurinaitis reminds the WWE Universe that he "recently appeared before the WWE Board of Directors in which they unanimously" recertified him as Interim General Manager of Raw.

Following the WWE’s Board of Directors’ advocacy of Mr. Laurinaitis’ performance, David Otunga mentioned on Raw that he had a plan to make his superior not only the permanent General Manager of Raw, but SmackDown, too. “Mr. Excitement” approached the ring in Milwaukee along with his official legal counsel, and immediately took aim at the longstanding General Manager of SmackDown, Teddy Long. He noted it is his “duty to suggest to The Board that Teddy Long should be subject to scrutiny.”

Alberto Del Rio makes his way to the ring for the first time since December.

Mr. Laurinaitis was quickly interrupted by Alberto Del Rio, entering in a 1985 Excalibur convertible worth more than $100,000. The Mexican Aristocrat had not been seen by the WWE Universe in nearly two months, and detailed in his native Spanish why Teddy Long should be ousted from his role.

The Mexican Aristocrat sprinkles in phrases in his native Spanish regarding his thoughts on Long.
Del Rio tells John Laurinaitis that he should not only be the PERMANENT General Manager of Raw, but SmackDown, too.

Mark Henry, recently suspended indefinitely by the SmackDown General Manager, was next to enter the Bradley Center and The World’s Strongest Man echoed Del Rio’s sentiments. The proprietor of the Hall of Pain accused Long of being a bully, and indicated Laurinaitis has never behaved as such.

"Teddy Long is a bully!"
The World's Strongest Man informs Laurinaitis that he believes Laurinauitis has never behaved as a bully or abused his power.

Completing Laurinaitis and Otunga’s trilogy was Christian, who has not competed in more than three months, and is still searching for “one more match” for the World Heavyweight Championship. Captain Charisma shared the sensibilities of his colleagues, and shook hands with Mr. Laurinaitis.

Laurinaitis is thrilled and overjoyed by the return of Captain Charisma.
"Unlike Randy Orton, who is faking a concussion, I had a legitimate injury. Sheamus broke my ankle, and Big Show almost broke my neck."

Captain Charisma and "Mr. Excitement" share an emotional embrace in support of each other.

The entire ordeal was clearly a strategic arrangement by Otunga on behalf of his boss in order to put the wheels in motion to remove “Interim” from Mr. Laurinaitis’ title, and to have him run things on Friday nights as well. The official legal counsel then took a moment to put down his travel coffee mug, and pull out his iPhone to snap a few photos of himself, Mr. Laurinaitis, and their new cohorts. Otunga tweeted each photo (No. 1, No. 2) moments later.

United States Champion Jack Swagger vs. Justin Gabriel 19/02/2012

Despite an extremely hard-fought effort by Justin Gabriel, United States Champion Jack Swagger successfully defended his title against the South African high-flyer in an impromptu showdown at Elimination Chamber.

Hot off his strong showing in the Elimination Chamber Wild Card Battle Royal two days earlier, Gabriel gave Swagger an intense challenge from the word go. But despite his turbo-charged attack, once his former World Heavyweight foe cinched in his dreaded ankle lock, the Cape Town competitor had no choice but to tap out.

The explosive surprise contest was created as the result of an altercation in the back during the monumental pay-per-view, in which Gabriel stood up to The All-American American and Vickie Guerrero on behalf of Hornswoggle. With earlier suggestions by Alberto Del Rio, Mark Henry and Christian that WWE Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Interim Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis become the permanent GM of both Raw and SmackDown still ringing in his ears, the assertive Theodore Long wasted no time making the blockbuster encounter for the U.S. Title.

Following Jack Swagger’s conquest at Elimination Chamber, who will step up to become the next road block to the United States Champion on the Road to WrestleMania?

Divas Champion Beth Phoenix vs. Tamina Snuka 19/02/2012

Ding. Glam Slam. Ding. That's the shirt Divas Champion Beth Phoenix had on at Raw. But at Elimination Chamber, it was more like Ding. Take one heck of a fight from Tamina. Glam Slam. Ding.

Tamina, the second-generation Diva, daughter of WWE Hall of Famer “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, channeled her father in every way imaginable to try and pull out a victory over The Glamazon. But in the end, Phoenix rose again – out of Tamina’s dangerous Superfly Splash from the top rope – to retain the butterfly-emblazoned title.

Two of WWE's most physically-imposing Divas took the action within the confines of the squared circle and outside to the ring floor. With brutal punches and feats of sheer strength, each Diva was determined to come out on top. Tamina even hit The Glamazon with the Samoan Drop, a painful move Phoenix wasn't expecting. As Tamina went up for the Superfly Splash, a quick-thinking Phoenix suplexed Tamina from the top rope.

But just when Tamina looked to have the Divas Championship within reach with a massive superkick-top rope Superfly Splash combination to The Glamazon, Phoenix kicked out of the landing and never looked back. One Glam Slam later and Phoenix retained.

For weeks, Beth Phoenix has been taunting the Divas Division on television, WWE.com and on Twitter, saying there “was no competition,” and she would be “Divas Champion forever.” Backing away from former friends like Natalya and taking matters into her own hands, the WWE Universe saw The Glamazon run roughshod over her opponents. That is, until Tamina Snuka elevated her game – and her place – in the Divas division.

From challenging – and beating – one of the most technically-sound Divas the WWE Universe has ever seen in Natalya, Tamina put The Glamazon on notice. And although the second-generation Diva was unable to net the butterfly in her first-ever Divas Championship Match, it certainly won’t be the last we see of Tamina Snuka.

What’s next for Divas Champion Beth Phoenix? Tune in to Raw SuperShow on USA Network at 9/8 CT for all the Elimination Chamber fallout.

Accepting SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long's invitation, Superstars from SmackDown, Raw and WWE NXT competed for the opportunity of a lifetime – the right to replace the injured Randy Orton in the Chamber.

With such a prestigious opportunity on the line, the competition was fierce from the word go. The desire to have a chance at the World Heavyweight Title created a slew of incredible moments including Primo eliminating his own cousin Epico, an action-packed struggle between Primo and Justin Gabriel to stay in the match and Hunico and Ted DiBiase eliminating each other.

In the end, it would all come down to four Superstars: Ezekiel Jackson, Drew McIntyre, David Otunga and the unlikely Santino Marella. With the WWE Universe behind him, Santino eliminated Drew. Then, minutes later when Jackson charged toward him, the Italian Superstar pulled down the rope, causing The Personification of Domination to fall to the ringside floor.

David Otunga quickly looked to pick up the pieces, launching a major offensive on his one remaining roadblock to glory. But, no matter what he did, he could not overcome Santino's spirit. And, when Otunga got a running start to hurl his resilient opponent over the top rope, Santino countered, sending John Laurinaitis' legal counsel to his defeat. Santino Marella survived the odds and would be heading to WWE Elimination Chamber! (MATCH PREVIEW)

Just when it looked like Alicia Fox was about to tap-out to Natalya's Sharpshooter, the referee was suddenly overcome by a terrible odor in the vicinity of the Diva action. As Natalya began to argue argued with the official, A-Fox promptly tagged in Tamina, who overcame the third-generation Diva with a splash off the top rope.

When Beth Phoenix charged after her No. 1 contender after the bell, “The Warrior Princess” caught her with a powerful kick. But, when she tried for a follow-up splash, The Glamazon got herself out of the ring at the last second. But, just who will walk out of WWE Elimination Chamber with the Divas Championship remains to be seen. (MATCH PREVIEW)
