The “rat bastard” of an announcer, along with his trainer Jack Swagger, faced off against fellow announcers Jerry “The King” Lawler & Jim Ross in a Country Whipping Match. When the sawdust finally settled, it was Cole & Swagger who had prevailed and their WWE Hall of Fame opponents who would be forced to “leather” the storm.

The barn-burner of a match, in which attacking your opponent with a leather strap is perfectly legal, can only be won by pinfall or submission. Nonetheless, during the bout, Cole suffered a series of welts, leaving his back looking like a road map of downtown Oklahoma City. Despite the lashing, however, Cole would get the last laugh. As Good Ol‘ J.R. mixed it up with his fellow Oklahoman, the cheese-eating Cole snuck up on the Hall of Famer and rolled him up for the improbable win.

Ross & Lawler stood in the ring baffled at the implausible turn of events. For their part, The All-American American and his partner beamed as they strode up the entrance ramp relishing Cole’s undefeated “streak.”

Jim Ross def. Michael Cole by Disqualification 25/4/2011 - WWE Raw Videos April 25, 2011:
Who knew announcers could be so brutal? In a match pitting Michael Cole against Jim Ross, the current Raw announcer leaned heavily on his Extreme Rules tag team partner, Jack Swagger. When Good Ol’ J.R. slapped him clean across the face during their match, Cole called a “time out” to berate Ross and his Extreme Rules partner, Jerry “The King” Lawler. As he tried to exit the ring, Cole felt the sting of the barbecue king, who wailed on him until Swagger entered and nailed J.R. with a cheap shot, causing a disqualification.

The All-American American then attacked Lawler before circling back to Ross. While he snapped on an ankle lock, his weasel-like partner took off J.R.’s belt and began whipping him mercilessly. Thankfully for Ross, King was able to chase off the dastardly duo. The whole ugly incident prompted Raw’s anonymous General Manager to designate their match at Extreme Rules a tag team Country Whipping Match.

Jerry Lawler & Jim Ross vs. Michael Cole & Jack Swagger May 1, 2011

“May we have your attention, please!” Personal animosity is about to evolve a WrestleMania rematch into an “Extreme” tag team showdown as Michael Cole – the Raw General Manager’s unofficial spokesman – teams with former friend Jack Swagger to battle Jerry “The King” Lawler & fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross at Extreme Rules.

In a fight the WWE Universe might have never foreseen months ago, the “vintage” Raw announce team of Lawler & Ross reunite in an attempt to finally silence the audacious mouth of Cole, the self-described “Voice of WWE.”

WrestleMania should have been a monumental moment in the life of Jerry Lawler. Not only was it his first time in his illustrious career that The King would compete at The Show of Shows, but the regal Superstar would finally be given the chance to get some payback on his ultra-cocky fellow Monday Night Raw announcer.

For months, Cole ridiculed The King at every pass, stepping way over the line as he mercilessly mocked Lawler’s family. With his vicious trainer and former World Heavyweight Champion, Jack Swagger, at his side, Cole attacked the WWE Hall of Famer week after week.

On The Grandest Stage of Them All – with “WWE Tough Enough” host “Stone Cold” Steve Austin as special guest referee – not even The All-American American could stop Lawler from making his outspoken opponent tap to the ankle lock. However, the anonymous Raw GM revoked Lawler’s moment of retribution, reversing the decision to award the WrestleMania victory to Cole by disqualification.

Just 24 hours after returning to WWE to call part of WrestleMania, Ross rejoined the Raw commentary team, but found himself in Cole’s bold crosshairs as well. With Lawler trapped in Swagger’s clutches, the leader of the Cole Miners attacked J.R. and covered the iconic announcer with his own barbecue sauce. The Voice of WWE continued his abuse of the legendary commentator weeks later when a knighted "Sir Cole" forced an ankle locked J.R. to kiss his filthy feet on Raw in the United Kingdom.

The gloves – and headsets – have definitely come off for Extreme Rules on May 1. Will the years-old bond between Lawler & J.R. be enough to take down a hated colleague in Cole? Tune in live on pay-per-view to find out.

Michael Cole got “knighted” 18/4/2011 - WWE Raw Videos April 18, 2011:
Sir Michael Cole? Sounds about as plausible as “Grammy-winner R-Truth,” right? Well, the cheese-eating announcer had his Extreme Rules tag team partner, Jack Swagger, join him as a woman, who looked vaguely like the Queen of England, entered the ring and allegedly knighted him.

Afterward, Cole and Swagger provoked their Extreme Rules opponents, Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross. “Sir Cole” commanded The All-American American to attack, prompting him to toss Lawler over the announce table and forcing Good Ol’ J.R. to kiss Cole’s feet. Yes, his feet!

Jerry “The King” Lawler def. Jack Swagger; Extreme Rules match announced.
Michael Cole is the only undefeated Superstar on the WWE roster. Crazy? You bet. The “rat bastard” broadcaster’s perfect record of 1-0 will be on the line again, however, when he teams with Jack Swagger against Jerry “The King” Lawler & Jim Ross in a tag team match at Extreme Rules.
Lawler was allowed to name the match after defeating The All-American American in singles competition. As he and Swagger faced off, Good Ol’ J.R. and Cole looked on from their respective corners. Ross assisted his longtime friend with a well-timed distraction, allowing King to win, and prompting Cole to slap Swagger. As the cowardly announcer scurried off, his WWE Hall of Famer rival gleefully dropped his Extreme Rules bombshell.
